En 1927 dans l’h\u00f4tel des Sept Portes en Louisiane, le peintre Zweick s\u00e9journe dans la chambre 36 lorsqu’un groupe d’hommes de la r\u00e9gion fait irruption. Le soup\u00e7onnant de sorcellerie, ils le battent \u00e0 coups de cha\u00eenes, puis l’emm\u00e8nent \u00e0 la cave o\u00f9 ils le crucifient \u00e0 un mur grav\u00e9 d’un \u00e9trange symbole, et enfin le recouvrent de chaux vive.<\/p>\n

Au m\u00eame moment, Emily, une jeune fille du quartier, entre en possession du myst\u00e9rieux Livre d’Eibon, et d\u00e9couvre que l’h\u00f4tel des Sept Portes a \u00e9t\u00e9 construit sur l’une des sept portes de l’enfer. Le livre prend feu dans ses mains.<\/p>\n

54 ans plus tard, Liza Merril, une jeune New-Yorkaise, h\u00e9rite de l’h\u00f4tel des Sept Portes, qui est en tr\u00e8s mauvais \u00e9tat.
